About Us

Today, with more than 20 outpatient clinics, a hospital, and an Emergency Care Center, UT Health Center sees more than 138,500 outpatient visits and more than 3,700 inpatient stays each year.

The rich history of UT Health Center goes back to World War II. The site where the Health Center stands today was once part of Camp Fannin, an infantry training center which prepared more than 100,000 men a year for combat.

Directions to the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler

From Tyler:

  1. Go to Loop 323
  2. Go around the loop until you see the Highway 271 intersection
  3. Turn onto Highway 271 and head North (away from Tyler) for 5 miles
  4. The Health Science Center will be on the left
  5. Take the first left turn lane. It will be marked by a big blue and white H on the road
  6. If you miss the turnoff take the next left turn lane for Highway 155. Turn left onto Highway 155 and then left again at the Health Science Center entrance

From Longview:

  1. Go to Interstate 20
  2. Head West on I-20 for about 20 miles
  3. Take the Highway 271 Exit
  4. Turn left onto Highway 271 and head South for 5 miles
  5. The Health Science Center will be on the right
  6. Turn right into the entrance off 271 just after the Highway 155 intersection

From Lindale:

  1. Go to Interstate 20
  2. Head East on I-20 for about 9 miles
  3. Take the Highway 155 Exit
  4. Turn right onto Highway 155 and head South for 3 miles
  5. The Health Science Center entrance will be on the right
  6. Turn right into the entrance off 155

From Dallas:

  1. Go to Interstate 20
  2. (You can get to I-20 by traveling loop 635 around to the South-East corner where it joins I-20. However, it may be faster to travel Highway 80 East until it joins I-20 at Terrell.)
  3. Head East on I-20 for about 100 miles
  4. Take the Highway 155 Exit
  5. Turn right onto Highway 155 and head South for 3 miles
  6. The Health Science Center entrance will be on the right
  7. Turn right into the entrance off 155.

From Gladewater:

  1. Head South on Highway 271 for about 20 miles
  2. The Health Science Center will be on the right
  3. Turn right into the entrance off 271 just after the Highway 155 intersection

From Gilmer:

  1. Head South on Highway 271 for about 35 miles
  2. The Health Science Center will be on the right
  3. Turn right into the entrance off 271 just after the Highway 155 intersection

From Jacksonville:

  1. Head North on Highway 69 until you reach loop 323 in Tyler
  2. Turn right onto loop 323
  3. Go around the loop until you reach the Highway 271 intersection at the North-East corner of loop 323 - about 10 miles
  4. Turn onto Highway 271 and head North (away from Tyler) for 5 miles
  5. The Health Science Center will be on the left
  6. Take the first left turn lane. It will be marked by a big blue and white H on the road
  7. If you miss the turnoff take the next left turn lane for Highway 155. Turn left onto Highway 155 and then left again at the Health Science Center entrance

From Palestine:

  1. Head North on Highway 155 until you reach loop 323 in Tyler
  2. Turn left onto loop 323
  3. Go around the loop until you reach the Highway 271 intersection at the North-East corner of loop 323 - about 10 miles
  4. Turn left onto Highway 271 and head North (away from Tyler) for 5 miles
  5. The Health Science Center will be on the left
  6. Take the first left turn lane. It will be marked by a big blue and white H on the road
  7. If you miss the turnoff take the next left turn lane for Highway 155. Turn left onto Highway 155 and then left again at the Health Science Center entrance

From Henderson:

  1. Head West on Highway 64 until you reach loop 323 in Tyler
  2. Turn right onto loop 323
  3. Go around the loop until you reach the Highway 271 intersection at the North-East corner of loop 323 - about 5 miles. (see Tyler Map)
  4. Turn right onto Highway 271 and head North (away from Tyler) for 5 miles
  5. The Health Science Center will be on the left

From Athens:

  1. Head East on Highway 31 until you reach loop 323 in Tyler
  2. Turn left onto loop 323

  4. Turn left onto Highway 271 and head North (away from Tyler) for 5 miles
