Medical Education

The Department of Medical Education is responsible for all continuing medical education (CME) activities. The mission of the Health Center's CME program is to provide high quality educational activities designed to enhance physicians' commitment to lifelong learning.

The ultimate goal is to promote and further the practice of evidence-based and cost-effective healthcare in keeping with the Health Center's mission to provide excellent patient care.

Pediatric Grand Rounds


Pediatric Grand Rounds is an educational forum on pediatric issues for physicians, nurses, and allied health care professionals and is a cooperative effort between East Texas Medical Center, Trinity Mother Frances and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. This one hour program is generally held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon. A complimentary light luncheon is served. The location rotates between the three hospitals.

At the end of this presentation, participants should have increased information to:

  • Review epidemiological trends related to bipolar disorder in children and adolescents.
  • Apply diagnostic strategies to identify patients with bipolar disorders from other psychiatric concerns such as attention deficit disorder, depression and developmental disorders.
  • Outline and evaluate the current treatment strategies for bipolar disorder in children and adolescents.
