Holidays are fun times, but they are also stressful - especially when traveling is involved. Long lines at airports, weather delays, and trying to spend as much time as possible with loved ones all lead to tight schedules and little free time. Working out may seem to be low on the list of things to do while you're away from home, but exercise can help reduce the stress of a business trip and add enjoyment to your vacation. And it's easy to do, with just a little planning.
First, make the commitment to spend at least 20-30 minutes every other day walking or doing some other form of physical activity. Consider doing it first thing in the morning, before your schedule gets hectic. If you'll be staying in a hotel, look for one with an exercise room or a relationship with a nearby health club. Many clubs offer discounts for travelers.
What are ways to be active on vacation? Bring a pedometer, use it to keep track of steps and shoot for 10,000 steps a day. Walk the city instead of using a taxi, carry golf clubs, play singles tennis instead of doubles and there's always hiking , biking and swimming. Every suitcase can fit a jump rope or exercise tubing and if you're stuck in the airport, use the time to stroll the terminal.Stay active while you travel.
