Four UTHCT faculty members promoted; UTHCT physician is board certified in nuclear cardiology

Four faculty members at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler recently were promoted. And Dudley Goulden, MD, professor of medicine and director of UTHSCT’s Division of Cardiology, has achieved board certification in nuclear medicine.
In the area of basic biomedical research, Alexei Iakhiaev, Ph.D., has been promoted to assistant professor of biochemistry. Masroor Khan, MD, has achieved the rank of associate professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology.
Buka Samten, of the Center for Pulmonary and Infectious Disease Control, has been promoted to assistant professor of microbiology and immunology. Barbara Seaworth, MD, has been promoted to professor of medicine. Dr. Seaworth is the medical director of the Heartland National TB Center located at the Texas Center for Infectious Disease in San Antonio. UT Health Science Center oversees TCID, a public health hospital that treats patients with tuberculosis.
Dr. Goulden passed the exam given by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, a nonprofit organization that assesses the level of knowledge demonstrated by specialists in nuclear cardiology and encourages the practice of quality patient care in this discipline. Dr. Goulden first joined the Health Center in 1991.
