Two employees of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler have been promoted, while two others recently achieved professional accomplishments in their respective fields.

Caryn Vorsas has been named director of Rehabilitation Services, and Deborah Wells, RN, has accepted the position of director of Inpatient Nursing and Emergency Services. Also, Sandra Lehman recently completed the requirements to become a certified clinical research coordinator, and Drew von Eschenbach advanced to the status of diplomate in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Vorsas, who has a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, has worked as a physical therapist at UTHSCT for 17 years. For the past nine years, she has been assistant director of Rehabilitation Services.

Wells, who has a bachelor of science in nursing, joined UTHSCT more than seven years ago. She has served as quality administrator for Quality and Medical Staff Services and as unit operations manager and nurse manager for Third Floor Nursing.

Lehman has a master of science in kinesiology and has been a UTHSCT employee for more than two years, working in the Center for Clinical Research. To attain professional certification as a clinical research coordinator, Lehman had to have two year’s experience in that field and pass an exam given by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.

Von Eschenbach has been with UTHSCT since 2003. He has a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance. To achieve the status of diplomate, von Eschenbach had to demonstrate leadership in health and community affairs, participate in continuing professional education programs, and pass the ACHE’s Board of Governors Examination in Healthcare Management.
