Keeping your heart healthy is the topic of free SecureCare seminar Feb. 13 in Tyler

A cardiologist from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler will discuss how to keep your heart healthy at a free SecureCare seminar from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the Ornelas Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road in Tyler.

SecureCare is UTHSCT’s comprehensive program designed specifically for people age 50 plus to provide the answers and care needed in today’s health care marketplace.

“Your Heart: An Owner’s Workshop” will be presented by James Galizia, MD, of UTHSCT’s Cardiopulmonary Services. He will outline the top risks for a heart attack and describe the steps you can take to keep your heart healthy. Dr. Galizia is board certified in internal medicine and in cardiovascular diseases. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

In addition, UTHSCT Outpatient Dietitian Karla Wallace will present “Eating Well for Your Heart.” Wallace, a registered and licensed dietitian, will talk about how nutrition affects heart disease, how diet can raise or lower your cholesterol, and how changing your diet can prevent heart complications.
