Emergency medicine physician named interim medical director of UT Health Center at Tyler emergency room

Gregory P. Johnson, MD, has joined The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler as interim medical director of the emergency room.

Dr. Johnson, an assistant professor of medicine at UTHSCT, is board certified in emergency medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

A practicing emergency room physician since 1982, Dr. Johnson comes to the Health Center after serving in capacities such as emergency room director, chief of staff, and occupational medical director at various hospitals in West Texas. He received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

“At the Health Center’s emergency room, we strive to be patient-oriented and to deliver quality care in a timely manner. We know that East Texans have a choice of ERs, and we want them to choose the Health Center,” Dr. Johnson said.
