Beverly E. Gerard, MD, has been named interim director of the Women’s Diagnostic Center at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. She joins UTHSCT as an assistant professor of surgery.
“After 14 years in private practice during which time she taught nurse practitioners at The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Gerard brings gynecological expertise to the Health Center. She has a particular interest in women’s wellness and perimenopausal care, including some complementary and alternative approaches,” said Dr. Steven Brown, UTHSCT’s chief medical officer.
“Dr. Gerard will join gynecologist Dr. Carl Westbrook and primary providers Dr. Pradeep Shirodkar and Dr. Patti Burke Olusola in the Women’s Diagnostic Center. The Center just moved into new facilities on the recently completed fourth floor of the Riter Center for Advanced Medicine,” Dr. Brown said.
Dr. Gerard is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Infertility, contraception counseling, perimenopause, menopause, and premenstrual syndrome are among her special interests.
“I am thrilled to join UT Health Science Center as the interim director of the Women’s Diagnostic Center. I look forward to providing gynecological care for East Texas women,” she said. “I invite any woman to visit me to discuss her individual concerns.”
Dr. Gerard received her medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, where she also completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Before coming to UTHSCT, Dr. Gerard had a private practice for many years in Round Rock, Texas.
