Elder law issues, estate preservation to be discussed at Town Hall Meeting in TASCA Ornelas Center

Tuesday, October 11, 2005

Legal issues that affect older people and how they can preserve their estates will be the topic of a free seminar from 10 a.m.-11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the TASCA Ornelas Activity Center, 3204 Old Omen Road in Tyler.

Tyler attorney H. "Chuck" Bauman will present "Elder Law Issues and Estate Preservation." He will discuss medical power of attorney and advanced directives in light of the Terri Schiavo case, which brought many end-of-life issues to the public’s attention.

Bauman also will compare the benefits and drawbacks of wills and trusts. He is a certified Elder Law Attorney, a designation he was awarded by the National Elder Law Foundation. The seminar is sponsored by The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler.

Town Hall Meetings are educational sessions held on the second Tuesday of each month at the TASCA Ornelas Activity Center, which is operated by UT Health Science Center at Tyler. The sessions are designed to provide timely information on topics of interest to senior citizens.
