Free diabetes management class scheduled for Dec. 3 at Glass Recreation Center

A free session to help people with diabetes learn how to better manage their disease will be offered from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Glass Recreation Center, 509 W. 32nd St. in Tyler.
The EXPORT Empower Self-Management Training is sponsored by The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and Texas College. These classes are part of a study to determine if diabetes education helps people with diabetes manage their disease.
Topics at this special session are:- Description of diabetes and its consequences
- Low and high blood sugar
- Eating with diabetes
- Blood sugar testing
- Exercise
- Medications for diabetes
- Foot and skin care for people with diabetes
- Living with diabetes
