Physician specializing in geriatrics joins UT Health Center

Nirmala Bangalore, MD, has joined the Center for Healthy Aging at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler as an assistant professor of medicine specializing in geriatrics, the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect older adults.

She comes to the Health Center after completing her fellowship in geriatrics at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. Dr. Bangalore completed her residency in family medicine at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She is board certified in family medicine.

Dr. Bangalore received the 2003-2004 Program Director’s Award for Resident of Excellence at Ohio State. Her special areas of interest include dementia, osteoporosis, and diabetes.

Dr. Bangalore and all UTHSCT health care providers accept patients covered by Medicare, TRICARE, the insurance for U.S. military personnel; Medicaid; and many private insurance companies.
