Our Tools
Allergy Skin Testing
Allergy skin testing, also known as a scratch test or prick test, and intradermal testing, are usually conducted in the clinic and last about two hours.
These tests help us determine what allergies you might have. There is minor discomfort associated with the scratch, prick, or needle stick.
Hyposensitization (Allergy Shots)
Allergy shots are a form of treatment aimed at decreasing your sensitivity to allergens. These are the substances that trigger your allergy symptoms when you are exposed to them.
Allergy shots with increasing amounts of an allergen are given over several months. The goal is to achieve long-lasting relief of allergy symptoms after treatment is stopped.
Sublingual Therapy
Sublingual immunotherapy, or allergy drops, desensitizes patients to their allergies through antigen taken under the tongue in a liquid form, rather than through an injection or shot. The antigens are the same, but the delivery method enables more patients to benefit from this treatment.
The allergy drops can be administered at home, which means fewer office visits. Drops can be used with a broader range of patients, including infants and children and people with chronic health conditions who are not candidates for or who prefer not to have shots. The drops are also an effective treatment for food allergies.
