Medical Test Checklist for Seniors


The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends the following tests to keep seniors healthy, happy, and safe.

These are simple tests that can be done or ordered when you visit your doctor. How often you should have them will also depend on your health and your doctor’s recommendations.

  • Blood Pressure -- Yearly
  • Fasting Blood Sugar -- Every three years
  • Cholesterol Screening -- Every five years
  • Weight Measurement
  • Bone Density Exam -- Every two weeks
  • Rectal Exam -- Yearly
  • Colonoscopy -- Every 10 years
  • Breast Exam and Mammogram -- Every one or two years
  • Pelvic Exam and Pap Smear -- Every three years
  • Thyroid Hormone Test -- Every five years
  • Vaccinations -- Pneumonia vaccine at age 65
    Yearly flu shot
    Tetanus booster every 10 years
  • Mole Check -- Yearly
