Pathology & Laboratory Services

Pathology is the study of medical science, specialty practice, and concerns with all aspects of disease, but with special reference to the essential nature, causes, and development of abnormal conditions.

The laboratory is a full service laboratory providing in house testing in hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, transfusion services, chemistry and special chemistry, microbiology (to include general bacteriology and mycobacteriology), phlebotomy, histology, cytology, and anatomic pathology. In addition, to the inhouse testing menu, the laboratory offers a full range of reference laboratory tests. The laboratory also offers oversight of the institutional Point-of-Care program to insure compliance with regulatory standards of those services performed outside the laboratory.

The laboratory staffs an ambulatory phlebotomy laboratory Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the 1st floor in Building A, room A-1188. Patients are greeted and assisted with registration before being directed into the phlebotomy laboratory. There is an after hours phlebotomy laboratory for those patient who need service after 5:00 p.m. or holidays and weekends. On the 1st floor in Building D, room D-103.
