Continuing Education programs that are approved for continuing education credit (CME, CNE, etc.) are presented throughout the state by CPIDC staff and invited speakers. Seminars targeting a variety of infection control problems from nosocomial transmission in the workplace to bioterrorism and emergency preparedness are scheduled to take place in a wide range of areas from El Paso to Tyler and Laredo to Abilene. These seminars are provided in association with The HeartLand National Tuberculosis (TB) Center in San Antonio and The American Lung Association of Texas. Continuing education credits are provided for nurses and other allied health.
There is no charge for CEUs and participants pay only for food. In addition, the CPIDC provides seminars for regional physician groups, health care workers associated with the Texas Department of Corrections, city and county health departments.
The CPIDC also produces videos on selected topics in infectious diseases. Since its beginning in January 1994, the CPIDC has presented over 72 day-long seminars and 45 shorter presentations to more than 11,150 physicians, nurses and health care support workers.
