The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler :: Surrogate Consent for Research
Surrogate Consent for Research Resources
In advance of our plans to study some of the ethical, legal and social issues pertaining to the use of surrogate consent (or "legally authorized representatives") in research, particularly in the context of research involving critical care patients who may lack decision-making capacity, we provide a number of related resources for others who may be interested in this topic. These resources include related materials or sites provided by or through federal U.S. agencies; select state and international laws that specifically address the use of surrogate consent for research; and a bibliography of articles and other literature about surrogate consent in both the research as well as treatment context.
Use the navigation buttons to the right to access these resources. This surrogate consent for research resource page will be updated as new information or materials become available.
