Adult Volunteer Program

Our volunteers come to us with a wide variety of experience and talents. We make every effort to ensure that they are given positions that suit their skills as well as their personalities. Below are a few of the opportunities you can enjoy as a UT Health Northeast volunteer. Floor Host - offer magazines and books to patients; deliver fresh ice water and mail.

Patient & Visitor Escort / Guest Services- . To assist patients, visitors, other customers with way finding, delivery of patient mail, gifts or flowers, transporting patients in wheelchairs, escorting patients to destination, as needed, and running errands for departments, upon requested. To provide excellent customer service that exceeds the expectations of visitors, patients and staff.

Guest Services/Information Desk - To assist patients, visitors and other customers with information regarding UT Health Northeast by answering phones, looking up patient rooms, giving facility directions or escorting visitors to destination. To provide excellent customer service that exceeds the expectations of visitors, patients and staff.

Gift Shop - help customers; operate cash register; create floral and balloon arrangements; and assist with the cleanliness of the shop.

Departmental Staff Support - perform clerical duties and run errands for a particular clinic or department.

ICU/Surgery Waiting Room - provide a vital communication link from Health Science Center staff to family members; deliver messages; maintain fresh coffee and supplies.

Hospitality Cart - serve complimentary beverages to the patients and guests in the outpatient or inpatient waiting rooms.

Research - assist doctors, lab technicians, and other staff members with specific projects.

Popcorn Greeter - To provide hospitality and excellent customer service as well as continuous fundraiser for the volunteers by selling popcorn to patients and visitors in waiting areas and Health Science Center lobbies.

Outside Projects - make tray favors, lap robes, and other assorted gifts for patients; knit or sew caps for onlcology patients.
