Health Insurance and Life Plans
UTHSCT provides a comprehensive medical benefits package designed to protect you and your family from catastrophic health care expenses while offering benefit choices and flexibility. After a short waiting period from the date of hire, UTHSCT provides eligible full-time employees with a Basic Coverage Package, which includes the UT Select Medical Plan with Prescription Coverage and $20,000 life insurance and accidental death insurance. Part-time employees have the option to enroll in medical coverage and UTHSCT will pay 50 percent of the premium. UTHSCT contributes a funding amount toward the cost of the UT Select Medical plan to make health insurance affordable for the employee.
Employees have the option to enroll in additional plans, including:
- Flex accounts
- Life insurance (up to six times an employee’s salary)
- Accidental death and disability (up to 10 times an employee’s salary)
Eligible employees of UTHSCT participate in a mandatory retirement plan and can also participate in voluntary tax-deferred retirement plans, including UTSaver Tax Shelter Annuity 403(b) and UTSaver Deferred Compensation Plan 457(b). Both employees and UTHSCT contribute to the mandatory Teachers Retirement System (TRS) and/or Optional Retirement Program (ORP) mandatory plans.
UTHSCT provides a generous program of leave benefits including vacation, sick, holiday, parental, funeral, and emergency leave to name a few.

Welcome to UTHSCT … we’re glad you’re here! As a newly hired employee, there are a few steps to take before you can begin work. Prior to your first day of employment, new employees will spend a couple of hours with Human Resources to complete state-mandated paperwork. To help make the process quicker, we ask that you download, complete, and bring the following forms and paperwork with you. What to Bring
Before employment begins, bring the following documents and forms with you for your first visit to the Office of Human Resources:
Social Security Card
Please supply an original Social Security card so that our office can verify your legal name and social security number, which is used for payroll and employment purposes. If you do not have your Social Security card, you can obtain one, or at least proof of one, by visiting the local Social Security Office located in your area or getting a replacement online.
