Community Health Worker Training Center

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler is a Texas Department of State Health Services certified CHW Training Center and offers CHW certification and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for both CHWs and CHW Instructors.

The Community Health  Worker Training Center

  • CHW Certification Course offered Spring and Fall Semesters.
  • Sixteen (16) Week Online Training.
  • $750.00 program fee to The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler.
  • Eight core competencies of a CHW.
  • 160 contact hours of classroom applications following a weekly schedule.
  • Program approved and certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
  • Continuing Education training opportunities available (CEUs) for CHWs and CHW Instructors.
  • Collaboration on research projects related to CHWs.
  • Department of Labor CHW Apprenticeship opportunities.
