Biography

Dr. James Fox is an East Texas native, having been raised in the nearby city of Winona before attending Tyler Junior College and subsequently graduating from Baylor University where he completed his undergraduate studies in the field of biology and was named Outstanding Senior in Biology. He subsequently attended The University of Texas at Houston Medical School where he received the Merck Award for Outstanding Academic Performance and then completed his residency training in the field of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern where he received the John S. Miller Award For Most Outstanding Graduating Senior Resident. Following his residency training Dr. Fox remained at UT Southwestern where he completed his fellowship training in the specialties of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine, serving as the program’s Chief Fellow. He then returned home where he enjoys the privilege of helping care for the medical needs of fellow East Texans and training future physicians. His medical practice includes the full scope of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine in his role as an Assistant Professor within the Department of Medicine at UT Health East Texas. His practice includes an emphasis on the evaluation of pulmonary nodules and lung cancer, currently serving as the Cancer Liaison Physician for the UT Health East Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in addition to serving as the Director of the Lung Nodule Clinic and Lung Nodule Screening Program at the UT Health East Texas North Campus. Additionally, Dr. Fox serves as the Program Director for the UT Health East Texas Internal Medicine Residency Program and also holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston as an instructor for rotating medical students. Dr. Fox enjoys the pursuit of learning and discovery that comes with a career in medicine, valuing the relationships that he develops with his patients and colleagues.
