Biography

Dr. Tingle attended Texas A&M University for pre-med studies and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He entered medical practice in Albuquerque, NM, after completing his family medicine residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, in Little Rock. He practiced full-spectrum family medicine until 1997 when he entered academic family medicine with the Baylor Health Care System in Garland, Texas. He served as the residency program director from 2001 until 2014 when he transitioned to full-time geriatrics, also with Baylor. Dr. Tingle maintains board certification in Family Medicine with a Certificate of added Qualification in Geriatrics. In 2015 he joined the University of Texas Health Science Center, Tyler and began writing a new residency program application which resulted in accreditation of the UTHSCT, Rural Family Medicine Residency in 2016. After the first year rotations in Tyler, rural residents come to our Critical Access Hospital, UT Health Pittsburg, where they complete their clinical education in Camp, county.

During the first week of medical school, Dr. Tingle met his wife Diane, a registered nurse. They have two sons and five grandchildren. Dr. Tingle served as a family physician and a flight surgeon during his career in the Air Force reserve. His outside interests include ranching, farming, wildlife preservation, travel, military history and the history of space exploration.​
