John was born and raised in northern Utah. He completed his undergraduate degree in Human Biology at Utah State University. He attended medical school at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine - Southern Utah. He has a passion for Sports medicine.

His interests outside of medicine include spending time with his wife and daughters, playing board games, and playing or watching sports.
