Are you ACGME accredited?

Yes, we are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) as a 3-year categorical internal medicine training program.

How do I submit my application?

We accept applications only through ERAS.

What is the application deadline?

Our deadline for applications is January 15th.

Does the program accept applicants outside of the NRMP match?

No, the program participates in the NRMP match and does not accept applicants outside of the match.

Do you accept international medical graduate applications?

Our institution does accept J1 Visa applicants but not sponsor H1B or other Visas.

Will you be offering virtual interviews?

Due to COVID-19 we will offer only virtual interviews this year.

What days are interviews conducted?

Interviews are held on Tuesday and Friday afternoons during the interview season.

Can I select my interview date?

All interviews will be scheduled through ERAS where applicants can select any available dates. You can also select to wait-list for specific dates if needed through ERAS.

What will the virtual interview day look like?

The virtual interview day will begin at 12:00PM and last until 4:30PM (times subject to change). You will interview with one faculty member and the program director. You will interact with program leadership and our current residents with time for questions.

What if I cannot make it on my interview date or need to change dates?

Please notify our office by ERAS, phone, or email as soon as possible if a scheduling change need to be made.

Will the program allow moonlighting?

We do allow moonlighting opportunities for our PGY2 & PGY3 residents after they have obtained a Texas medical license.

How many residents does your program accept each year?

We accept 20 positions per year for a full complement of 60 residents.

Where will my rotations be located?

  • UT Health East Texas Tyler (primary site)
  • UT Health East Texas North Campus
  • Community Specialty Clinics

Do you offer an employment benefits package?

Yes, in conjunction with UT System benefits.

Is your program affiliated with any fellowships currently?

No, but we have plans to begin a medical school and fellowship programs in the future.

Do you accept COMLEX?


Do you accept Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine graduates?

Yes, we accept both graduates from MD and DO medical schools.
