The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine houses two distinct accredited programs, the Psychiatry Residency Program, the Psychology Internship Program and a new Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Psychology Internship

We are pleased to announce that the UT Health Science Center Psychology Internship Program is now accredited by the American Psychological Association, backdated to October 28, 2016. Physician partners in psychiatry, family medicine, and internal medicine are actively involved in supporting the internship.

 

Psychology Fellowship

The goal of the postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology is to provide advanced training and increasing independence in the medical setting, encompassing proficiencies in both traditional clinical and health areas. This formalized, comprehensive clinical training fellowship is currently seeking Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) membership and is designed to meet requirements for licensure in the state of Texas.

 

Psychiatry Residency

In 2016, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (UT Health Science Center) was accredited for a Psychiatry Residency Program. The program has six slots per class, for a total complement of 24. UT Health Science Center accepts applications through ERAS. Deadline for applications is December 1, and all invitations for interviews will be sent prior to December 31.
