Interviews

The University of Texas at Tyler will offer virtual interviews for the 2023-2024 training year. Candidates selected for interviews will be notified via email. Each applicant will meet with at least 5 faculty members for half hour interviews. These interviews will be individual interviews between the applicant and each faculty member. Applicants will also meet informally with current interns. Further, we will post a virtual overview of the program and facility for applicants to watch and see portions of our hospital. Any applicant wishing to discuss the program is welcome to contact our faculty via the contact information on our webpage.

Four interview days will be conducted in January. Interviews will be scheduled through the National Matching Service.

An open house will be scheduled in late January 2024 to allow applicants an opportunity to tour the facilities, meet faculty and current interns in-person, and learn more about the city of Tyler. Please note, the open house is entirely optional. Attendance will not be considered when ranking applicants.

Pending COVID-19 safety precautions regarding national travel recommendations, applicants are encouraged to tour the city of Tyler and learn about our many amenities and relatively low cost of living. Tyler is a lovely midsized city (110,000 population) that is nestled in the Piney Woods of Northeast Texas. Rolling hills, lakes, tall trees, rivers and streams characterize the region. Tyler is ideal for biking, hiking, fishing and boating, and boasts a rejuvenated downtown environment of coffee houses and microbreweries. Major retailers and restaurants are a part of the city landscape, as well as small local shops and eateries.

  • 400 intervention hours
  • 50 assessment hours
