To be admitted for the public health certificate, a student must be in their final year of study or hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited college or university. Students must have completed one year minimum in any life science in any combination (biology, chemistry, environmental science) or any human science such as anatomy and physiology or physical science, as well as one semester of college algebra or an equivalent course.
- Preferred overall GPA 3.0 on 4.0 scale, and a 3.0 in the field of study
- Applicant must be in the final year of undergraduate work or hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited institution.

- One semester of college algebra or an equivalent course
- Official transcripts from all universities/colleges attended
- We do not accept electronic transcripts as “official.” All official transcripts must be mailed directly to the office of academic affairs from their primary source.
- Unofficial transcripts are allowable during the admissions process, but we must receive “official” transcripts before the first day of class.
- A Personal Statement and Cover Letter
TOEFL required for international students: Score at least 550 on paper-based TOEFL, 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, and 80 on the internet-based TOEFL.
Complete and submit the graduate program application at least sixty (60) days prior to entering the program. UT Health Science Center accepts credit or recognizes degrees only from institutions accredited by one of the regional accrediting bodies.
A $25 application fee is to be included with the application materials. A fee of $50 must accompany the application of all foreign applicants, except those under university-sponsored exchange programs.

Transfer of Credit
Under certain circumstances, a graduate student may transfer 3 credit hours of graduate course work taken at accredited institutions to a certificate. To transfer any credit from other institutions, however, the student must submit an official transcript of the courses to be considered and have the approval of the appropriate academic department and academic dean.
The work must have been taken not earlier than six years prior to the student’s first graduate enrollment at UT Health Science Center. Moreover, if the student fails to complete work on the graduate degree at UT Health Science Center before the expiration of the six years, the transfer credit will not be applicable toward a degree here.
Any course accepted by transfer will carry credit but not grade point value. To transfer credit, the student must have earned a grade of B or higher on the course
An applicant for admission to graduate study must either (1) be in the final year of undergraduate work, or (2) hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. An applicant admitted to a graduate program at UT Health Science Center must enroll within one calendar year of admission. Thereafter, the applicant must reapply for admission.
The application process will be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Admission and Scholarship Policies for Graduate and Professional Programs, which was adopted by the 77th Session of the Texas Legislature, and which amends Chapter 51 of the Texas Education Code.
