Researcher’s Welcome

Welcome Friends,

The Center for Biomedical Research at The University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center is well known at the national and international levels for research contributions in the fields of lung injury, microbiology, and immunology. Recently, the biomedical research program has expanded to include investigators with a primary interest in the area of breast cancer. These focus areas complement a strong clinical research program for which the institution is well known.

A great strength of the biomedical research program is its core of solid, creative, and innovative investigators who are known worldwide for their contributions to medicine and science. Their prowess in the biomedical sciences is proven by their consistent track record of acquiring financial support from the National Institutes of Health and other extramural funding sources.

Along with their commitment to maintaining competitive research laboratories, the research faculty has a strong and abiding commitment to educating the next generation of professionals in the fields of medicine and research. The faculty supports and mentors graduate students within the biotechnology master’s program while also introducing biomedical science and medicine to high school and college students through the summer externship program.

As senior vice president for research, it is my great pleasure to work with the accomplished colleagues that comprise our biomedical research program.  As a practicing physician and scientist, it has been an honor to work on medical problems that now defy satisfactory treatment. Like all my colleagues, I take great pride in the work being done at UT Health Science Center and I encourage you to visit our website in depth, read about our investigators, and learn more about how our research program is advancing scientific knowledge and medical therapy.
