Sports Medicine Fellowship – Welcome

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in our Sports Medicine Fellowship program!

Our program received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in 2022 for our sports medicine fellowship program and then welcomed our first two fellows in July 2022. The UT Tyler sports medicine department is led by a team of experienced, fellowship-trained physicians and collaborates with specialists across the region to offer a well-rounded, multidisciplinary learning experience for our fellows.

Fellows will stay busy as East Texas lends itself well to year-around opportunities to engage in sports and recreational activities. As a fellow, you will cover sideline events for UT Tyler, local high schools and community sporting events. The UT Tyler Patriots are well known for being fierce competitors. Having secured 11 national championship titles and numerous other athletic successes, the Patriots are eager to face their division II competition. East Texas is also home to many professional athletes and our high school athletes are heavily recruited by major division I schools from across the country including, the power five programs.

When not at work, engage in the local community and enjoy all that the Tyler area has to offer. This is a very family-friendly area with wonderful people. Explore the biking and walking trails, numerous lakes, excellent food and the largest rose garden in the United States. Take advantage of affordable housing, multiple schooling options and easy access to travel with close proximity to the Dallas, Shreveport and Houston metro areas.

Thank you for your interest. We look forward to reviewing your application soon!
