TASK Fellowship Opportunities

Postdoctoral fellows in child abuse will collaborate with:

  • Local agencies serving abused children (e.g., the local CACs),
  • 11 other CACs in the larger East Texas region, and
  • The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler.

Child abuse fellows work with a variety of populations, including rural and underserved patients, and will work with settings to screen for abusive / traumatic events and related symptoms.  As noted, child abuse fellows will participate in didactics with family medicine and psychiatry residents, with two required presentation of didactic lectures during the academic year.

Advanced Post-doctoral Fellowship in Psychology

The goal of the advanced postdoctoral fellowship in Child Abuse Clinical Psychology is to provide advanced training in evidence-based assessment and treatment of abuse- and trauma-related symptoms among children and adolescents affected by child abuse (40%). Work with families will be emphasized, as well as consultation with disciplines serving in the investigation, medical care and mental health treatment (10%). Training of other disciplines, as well as teachers, will be an integral part of the training experience (10%). Opportunities for research, grant writing, policy work, and the use of telehealth also are available (30%).  Supervision with experienced experts is available, and didactics will be provided as part of psychology and multidisciplinary training (10%). A doctoral degree and a completed post-doctoral fellowship are required by the start of the post-doctoral fellowship.

Post-doctoral Fellowship in Psychology

The goal of the basic postdoctoral fellowship in Child Abuse Clinical Psychology is to provide training in evidence-based assessment and treatment of abuse- and trauma-related symptoms among children and adolescents affected by child abuse (50%). Work with families will be emphasized, as well as consultation with disciplines serving in the investigation, medical care and mental health treatment (10%). Training of other disciplines, as well as teachers, will be an integral part of the training experience (10%). Opportunities for research, grant writing, policy work, and the use of telehealth also are available (10%). Supervision with experienced experts is available, and didactics will be provided as part of psychology and multidisciplinary training (20%). A doctoral degree is required by the start of the post-doctoral fellowship.
