Training Opportunities

At PHLET, our goal is to assist you in training your laboratory personnel in the area of laboratory preparedness. We accomplish this currently through a couple of specialized courses, both offered here at PHLET. In addition, we also have a variety of online training resources that we can connect you with.

Online Training Resources

MediaLab

MediaLab, Inc. offers users FREE access to over 70 online, self-paced training courses. Many of these courses also offer PACE continuing education credits. Learn more about courses through MediaLab.

Packaging and Shipping of Dangerous Goods

There are two on line courses available. Both are free.

Course 1: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers a web based self-study course called Packaging and Shipping Division 6.2 Materials. Register online.

Course 2: MediaLab requires registration with DSHS and there are prerequisite courses that must be done before you can take the shipping training. To establish your MediaLab account, please email  the following information:

NOTE: these courses are designed for clinical laboratories, they don’t cover genetically modified organisms or regulated medical waste. Also, if you have a first time shipper, the classroom course is recommended over the on line training.

Important: Refresher shipping is required every two years. We do not send out reminders when your shipping training is due so please check your certificates to determine if training is needed. If you desire shipping training and are not able to attend on-site training we have on-line training available. Email  for details.

TRAIN

TRAIN is a national learning network that provides quality training opportunities for professionals who protect and improve the public’s health. CDC TRAIN provides access to over 1300 courses developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) programs, grantees, and other funded partners.
