About the Watson W. Wise Medical Research Library

The Watson W. Wise Medical Research Library was dedicated in 1984 as an expansion and enhancement of the existing clinical library that was begun several years before. Mr. Wise’s contribution and the continued expansion of UT Health Science Center’s mission and programs has resulted in a comprehensive collection.

The library serves not only UT Tyler Health Science Center’s students and faculty, but the institution’s nurses, administrators and other staff as well. In addition, area professionals, students, and the general public use the Library, which remains the only full-service, professionally-staffed health science library in Northeast Texas.

The library maintains a collection of over 5,000 periodicals, and over 3,000 books, many in electronic format. Public-access computers are also available for database and web searching, word processing, presentations, and more. Wireless access is also available, as are private and public study areas. Library staff are available to provide reference, assistance, and instruction.
